about

The Morrigan is the ancient Irish goddess of war and death, in one of the many interpretations. This piece was born from watching "American Gods" which was based on the Neil Gaiman book. I wrote it from a place of "What if somebody asked me to write a cinematic theme for The Morrigan?"

She is a fantastic and hugely overlooked individual both in Irish folklore and abroad and I can only hope I did her justice with this piece. I used a guitar detuned to "C" and the Uilleann pipes to add weight and gravitas to convey exactly how powerful she is. And I must tip the hat to Korn who of course incorporate a similar idea with the Highland bagpipes.

At one point I was looking to do a music video but as life progresses in the so called "New Normal" it appears more unlikely.
